Services for Music in the SBN network
The Musica data base is a file of records relating to manuscript and printed music. Its size is of approximately 200.000 bibliographic descriptions of musical documents from about 500 Italian libraries and archives. It can be considered the main source of information for the national retrospective bibliography of printed music.
The Musica database is one of the specialized databases of SBN (Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale), the Italian Library co-operative network.
SBN is supported by the Ministry for Cultural Affairs, the Ministry for Universities and Technical and Scientific Research and the Italian regional authorities.
SBN has the following objectives
to maintain the National Union Catalogue that holds 3.000.000 of records and is constantly being enlarged through shared cataloguing and the connection of more than 500 libraries.
to facilitate interlibrary loan among Italian libraries.
the wider dissemination of bibliographic information: the SBN databases are accessible on Internet.
the development of effective network service.
Two national projects are currently involved the Musica database:
"Access to SBN databases" which is developing an OPAC system on Z39.50 and WEB server implementation.
"Growing of Musica database" which is building up the National Union Catalogue of music and developing new cataloguing tools and downloading and uploading procedures in UNIMARC format.
Services pour la musique dans le réseau SBN
La base de données Musica est un fichier d'enregistrements relatifs à la musique manuscrite et imprimée. Ses dimensions sont d'environ 200.000 descriptions bibliographiques de documents musicaux provenants d'environ 500 bibliothèques et archives musicaux italiens. Elle peut être considérée la principale source d'informations pour la bibliographie rétrospective nationale de la musique imprimée.
La base Musica est une des bases spécialisées de SBN (Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale), le réseau coopératif des bibliotèques italiennes.
SBN est financié par le Ministère des biens culturels, par le Ministère de l'Université et de la recherche technique et scientifique et par les Régions.
SBN a les buts suivants:
de maintenir le Catalogue Unique National qui a 3.000.000 d'enregistrements et est constamment alimenté par le catalogage participé et la connection de plus de 500 bibliothèques
de faciliter le prèt entre les bibliothèques italiennes
d'améliorer la diffusion des informations bibliographiques: la base SBN est accessible en Internet
de développer un service effectif dans le réseau
Deux projèts nationaux intéressent la base de données Musica.
"Accès aux bases de données SBN" qui est en train de développer un OPAC sur Z39.50 et WWW
"Croissance de la base de données Musica" qui prépare le Catalogue Unique National de la musique et de nouveaux instruments de catalogage et logiciels d'interchange des données avec le format UNIMARC.

Die Datenbank Musica ist eine Datei mit Titeln, die sich auf gedruckt oder handschriftlich überlieferte Musik beziehen. Sie umfaßt ungefähr 200.000 bibliographische Beschreibungen von Dokumenten zur Musik aus ungefähr 500 italienischen Bibliotheken und Archiven. Man kann sie als die wichtigste Quelle für Informationen über die nationale retrospektive Bibliographie der gedruckten Musik ansehen.
Die Datenbank Musica ist eine der Spezialdatenbanken des SBN (Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale), dem gemeinsamen, italienischen Bibliotheksnetzwerk.
SBN wird unterstützt vom Ministerium für Kulturelle Angelegenheiten, dem Ministerium für die Universitäten und die Technische und Wissenschaftliche Forschung und von den regionalen Regierungen in Italien.
SBN hat folgende Aufgaben:
den Nationalen Einheitskatalog zu pflegen, der etwa 3.000.000 Einträge enthält und ständig erweitert wird durch Katalogsharing und den Anschluß von mehr als 500 Bibliotheken.
das Netz unter den Bibliotheken zu unterhalten.
den Zugriff auf bibliographische Informationen zu erweitern: Die SBN Datenbanken sind im Internet greifbar.
die Entwicklung eines effectiven Network-Service.
Zwei nationale Projekte berühren heute die Datenbank Musica:
"Der Zugriff zu SBN Datenbanken" in dessen Rahmen ein OPAC System auf Z39.50 und eine WEB Server Implementation entwickelt werden.
"Die Vergrößerung der Datenbank Musica" in dessen Rahmen der Nationale Musik-Einheitskatalog aufgebaut wird und neue Katalogisierunghilfsmittel entwickelt werden, sowie Download- und Upload-Proceduren im UNIMARC Format.
